ICC women’s cricket rankings

How the official ODI and T20I team and player rankings are calculated – and what moves them.

Team rankings

The ICC publishes separate women’s team rankings for ODIs and T20Is. Teams earn rating points from their results over a rolling period, with recent matches weighted more heavily and wins against stronger opponents worth more. Tables are recalculated after every series.

Player rankings

Batting, bowling and all-rounder rankings are published for both formats. Performances count for more against stronger opposition and in winning causes, and ratings decline gradually when a player is not playing.

Official tables are published by the ICC at icc-cricket.com/rankings.

Questions and answers

How often are ICC women’s rankings updated?

After each completed series or tournament, based on results over a rolling period.

No. The ICC publishes women’s team and player rankings for ODIs and T20Is only, because women’s Tests are played too rarely.

How the ICC women’s rankings work

The ICC publishes official women’s rankings for teams and players in ODIs and T20Is. They are recalculated after each series, so they reflect current form rather than reputation.

Team rankings

Teams earn rating points from series results over a rolling period. Recent matches carry more weight than older ones, and beating a highly ranked side earns more than beating a lower-ranked one.

Player rankings

Batters, bowlers and all-rounders are ranked separately in each format. Runs and wickets count for more against strong opposition and in winning causes, and ratings fall gradually when a player does not play.

Why there are no Test rankings

Women’s Tests are played too rarely to support a fair ranking, so the ICC ranks ODIs and T20Is only.
